News this week of quarantines, event cancellations, and the necessity of social distancing in light of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been overwhelming. While not wanting to overreact, we do want to be wise and thoughtful in this process, caring well for those in our church and community. Since Denton schools, the University of North Texas, and some government agencies are closing for the next week, we have decided to cancel worship for this Sunday (3/15/2020) as well as Men’s and Women’s Bible Studies for this week. We are not doing this because we know or think anyone in our congregation has the virus, but to err on the safe side.
Please know that the elders are following the situation and trying to make wise decisions about worship and how best to care for our congregation. Please join us in praying that God would keep the spread of the virus to a minimum and that He would help us to love one another well in the midst of crisis. I am attaching a couple of links to articles that speak of how Christians in the past have reacted to outbreaks like this one and some thoughts on how we might react today.
If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to use the Contact Us page and we will get back to you as soon as possible. As always, we are happy to talk with you about these concerns or any others you may have.
We will be making a decision about worship for March 22nd sometime in the middle of next week.
Prayerfully, Pastor Robert Wagner
